Cherangani Nursing Home was started by a proprietor known as Mr. JACOB KILIMO KISANG after retiring from GOK in service of 33 years at the age of 55 years in the year 1993.
He felt he was still strong to serve the community in the field he knew well. He had two choices to make:-
(1)To open a clinic
He realized that this was a better choice because the community was lacking quality healthcare services. The challenge was, it required a large capital to start. After prayers, he committed the plan to God to ensure it succeed for his glory with the little pension and gradual sale of home property.
He hired a premise and equipped it, and started with few services, that is: – Maternity, Laboratory, Pharmacy and Out- patient services. We started building our own institution in the year 1997.
The work picked up well and after a short while in the year 2000 we moved to our premises and changed the management to the company limited.
We are a Christian family, we believe that we are God’s stewards in hospital/church service, we treat but God heals.
For this reason, it is a necessity to meet every morning in prayers and adoration to God before we start the day.

We have partnered with the Fistula Foundation
through Action on Fistula, this has allowed us to offer obstetric fistula repair surgeries on a regular basis.
Despite significant development progress during the last few decades, maternal health indicators in Kenya remain at disappointing levels. This is particularly true in the many rural parts of Kenya, where the majority of women deliver at home without a skilled birth attendant and far from any emergency obstetric care facilities. This has led to a high rate of obstetric fistula in Kenya and more regional health centers are needed to conduct outreach and treat women in these areas.
